We held a comms class in November and it was a huge success. There are also ham license classes everywhere. But what about those who want to understand some of how it all works and aren’t ready to take the test? Or those who already have their license and are thinking “now what?” What about those who want specific, focused training on small group communications and the practical how-to of it all? That’s what our Small Group Communications class is for.
Our class, taught by TOWR members and radio operators Steve and Mike, will focus on the following:
- Basic Radio Theory
- Getting Started: what to buy and why
- How to Set Up a Listening Post and Start Collecting
- Setting Up Comms for Your Group
You don’t need a license to take this class; although this is NOT a Tech or General ham radio class, we’ll cover some of the same topics. If you have a license already, great–you’ll still learn. This class is focused on the practical familiarization and use of radios, and will get you more comfortable taking the exam, buying new gear, or using the gear you already have.
The class fee is $50, and you can reserve a spot or get payment information by contacting us here. You’ll want to bring your comms gear, if you have any.
Date: 17 September 2016
