NW Region Patriot Academy Boot Camp, Idaho, June 19-21

The Northwest Region Patriot Academy boot camp will be held June 19-21, 2017 in Boise, ID.

Patriot Academy is a three- to seven-day “boot camp” in leadership and government open to students ages 16 to 25 and held every summer in various state capitols throughout the country. Students delve into the political process from the inside out as they file legislation, debate bills, campaign for office and pass laws. In between legislative activities, they receive training in media skills, public speaking, leadership, current issues and America’s heritage–all from a Biblical worldview. Conservative leaders from all areas of the political field mentor students through the process, sharing their experience and wisdom. Patriot Academy offers students the most realistic, condensed, conservative political training that we know of. The Regional Academies in Arizona, Idaho, Florida and Delaware are 3-day sessions, while the National Academy in Texas is a seven-day session open to all qualifying students from around the country.

Patriot Academy has a single, bold vision: to equip a new generation of leaders to champion the cause of freedom and truth in government, media, entertainment, and education, as we help bring our nation back to the principles on which we were founded. Patriot Academy has a proven track record of excellence through a simple four part strategy:

  1. Train students to understand and influence government policy with a Biblical worldview
  2. Demonstrate the principles of ethical servant leadership from the Founding Fathers’ perspective
  3. Teach the political process and essential leadership skills through intense hands-on training
  4. Inspire students to be salt and light in every area of society and culture

DA-SC-90-03096President Reagan said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.” Unless we motivate and equip the next generation to take up and advance the torch of freedom, it will extinguish. We desire to help students be positive change agents, and give them the tools needed to successfully engage in the political arena and every area of the culture. Our prayer is that every young person who attends Patriot Academy will understand it is their duty and privilege to guard the precious legacy of liberty. By God’s grace we will raise up a generation who will leading the change in both the public square and the private sector.

The Demoralization of America

Here is an interview from back in 1985 with a KGB defector, talking about the ideological subversion of the US and how it would take fifteen to twenty years, minimum, to reverse the process.

Here is an excerpt:

So, basically, you in America are stuck with demoralization. And unless, even if you start right now, here this minute, educating a new generation of Americans, it will still take fifteen or twenty years to turn the tide of ideological perception of reality and normalcy and patriotism.

The result? The result you can see. Most of the people who graduated in the sixties, dropouts or half-baked intellectuals are now occupying the positions of power in the government, civil service, business, mass media, educational system. You are stuck with them. You cannot get rid of them. They are contaminated. They are programmed to think and react to certain stimuli in a certain pattern. You cannot change their mind even if you expose them to authentic information. Even if you prove that white is white and black is black.

Effects of CSZ Event on Columbia Generating Station

wwemFrom Walla Walla County Emergency Management’s Facebook page:

In reply to our earlier post about a Cascadia Subduction Zone (CSZ) event, many of you had questions about the impact of a CSZ event on Columbia Generating Station (CGS), the nuclear power plant at the Hanford site, and in Walla Walla County.

We reviewed the anticipated estimated impacts to eastern Washington using the Washington State Seismic Hazards Catalog on the DNR website. While the study stops just short of the Tri-Cities, the catalog does indicate that the shaking intensity would be a 5 on the Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) scale. However, CGS is located on the edge of 5 MMI (Moderate) and 4 MMI (Light). The best comparison that we could find shows that a MMI IV is comparable to a Magnitude 4.0 – 5.0 on the Richter scale. A MMI V is comparable to a Magnitude 5.0 on the Richter Scale. Either way, the impacts to CGS would be well within the design basis that the power plant was designed to withstand.

As for Walla Walla County, as shown on the Cascadia M9 Scenario Map we can expect to feel a CSZ event. The further you are to the east of the westcoast, the less it would be felt. Therefore, we’d experience a lesser magnitude event than would be experienced at the Hanford Site since we are slightly further east than Hanford. The worst case CSZ scenario is a quake lasting five minutes or longer. Regardless of the magnitude felt here, five minutes of shaking is a long time. We cannot rule out failure of brick facades, chimneys and the like. And consideration must be given for the amount of infrastructure damage the west side of the state will experence. Preparing is always a good idea, no matter what scenario you are preparing for.

cszscenariomap

According to the CSZ M9 scenario map, the shaking in Benton and Yakima counties would also be at the MMI V level, slightly more than what Walla Walla would feel. This level is described as “Felt by nearly everyone; many awakened. Some dishes, windows broken. Unstable objects overturned.”

OK-HELP Signs

Many jurisdictions urge people to use OK/HELP signs to facilitate search and rescue after a disaster. If they occupants of a home are all OK after a disaster, then they put the OK side of the sign up in the window so that responders can see that they don’t need to search the premises. On the other hand, if you or another occupant are in need of assistance, you can put up the HELP side of the sign in hopes that a first responder or neighbor can come and provide assistance.

Here is an example sign that you can print out for your own use.

A Federalist Solution to the Federal Bureaucracy

at-logoFrom American Thinker comes an idea for civil service reform.

The federal bureaucracy was created by Congress and is managed by the executive branch. The structure of the bureaucracy was intended to make it difficult for employees to be fired for political reasons. The Civil Service is comprised for the most part of men and women who perform their daily duties admirably and with distinction. Sadly, the result of Obama’s politicized and weaponized bureaucracy has been a fundamental lack of trust in government by average citizens. The very worst federal employees are shielded from the consequences of their incompetence, indolence, and outright corruption by recalcitrant administrators and union lawyers. Personal accountability appears to have taken a permanent vacation. Indeed, the power of the civil service grows every time an unfireable federal employee thumbs his nose at the rules that govern the private sector. Throughout history no attempt by any president to rein in this bureaucracy has been able to do more than slow its growth; simply put, there is no elected official in Washington DC capable of bringing Leviathan to heel.

How then can We the People accomplish what the most powerful politicians in Washington DC can’t? To quote a character from Frank Herbert’s Dune, “he who can destroy a thing, controls a thing.” I submit that the federal bureaucracy could be tamed by enacting a Constitutional amendment requiring that every federal government agency except the Department of Defense to be reauthorized by a three-fifths vote of all 50 state legislatures every 12 years.

Disaster Preparedness Exercise, Feb. 9th, 2017

How prepared are you?

If disaster strikes, do you know how well prepared you are to handle it?

  • Do you have enough food?… Can you cook it?
  • Do you have enough water?… Is it clean?
  • Do you have heat? Medications? Can you communicate?
  • Can you protect/defend yourself? Your family? Your possessions?

Or will you become a victim of the kind of normalcy bias that threatens the well-being of you and your family?

Get answers to these questions and more. Find out what our community first responders think, and what concerns them. The focus of this tabletop exercise is personal and family preparedness.  Join this community exercise and test your knowledge and level of preparedness.  You might be surprised.

FEBRUARY 9 — 6:30 – 8:00PM / Prosser Senior Center / 1231 Dudley Avenue, Prosser, WA

What could possibly happen in this area that could mean disaster for me or my family?!

Wildfire • Train derailment with fire/explosions or toxic releases covering a large area • Volcanic eruption (Mt. St. Helens or Mt. Rainier) • Wide-spread, prolonged power outage • Seismic event (Cascadia Subduction Zone Rupture – 8.5-9.0) • Yakima River flooding • Extended confinement • Quarantine • Civil disturbance • Sever weather event • Etc.

Any of the above scenarios can happen and involve the lower Yakima valley. The effects can last for a few hours, a few days, a few weeks, or longer… much longer.  Wouldn’t it be comforting (or eye opening) to know how well prepared you are, and what additional steps you can take to enhance your comfort, security, and even your survivability?

There will be no General Assembly meeting on February 9th. LVA members are encouraged to come out and support the community in this exercise.

J Mosby: Reality Isn’t Nice. It’s a 2×4 to the Teeth.

flagFrom John Mosby’s Mountain Guerrilla blog comes this article on the reality of the current civil war in the United Sates.

This is an actual civil war, as in a conflict between ideologically-opposed factions within the civilian and political population of a country. Like real civil wars, it is not going to be pretty. It’s not going to be armies, in pretty uniforms, fighting pitched, conventional battles. It’s going to be a matter of assassination, sabotage, hit-and-run raids, targeting ideological leadership figures, enemy families, etc.

As Matt Bracken pointed out in a recent Facebook post himself, we’re looking at more of a Balkans and/or Argentine “Dirty War” conflict. People just haven’t accepted that, because it doesn’t fit their mental images of what “war,” even “guerrilla war” looks like. That, in turn, is because, even the most devout conversions to the “Church of the Anti-Media” in this country today, have a lifetime of conditioning to the media’s portrayal of what “reality” is. From what a “proper” war looks like, to what “collapse” looks like, to what “bad guys” look like.

Oathkeepers – Infiltrating Violent Protest Organizations

oath-keepers-logo-w-url-tm

From NavyJack at Oathkeepers.org:

…The anarchists are by far the most dangerous of these groups. They are organized like militias. They actively train and practice their operations. They have discipline and zero tolerance for weakness. They have a number of former military personnel providing expertise to enhance security, logistics and martial arts capabilities. The majority are physical fit, military age males. They are primarily white with few minority members. Their leadership tends to be either former military, a proven leader from the occupy movement or a highly educated alpha-male. They are far more capable than their recent activities would demonstrate. They have formed community defense organizations and are idolized for their willingness to take action from the other groups discussed above. They are however anarchists that despise communism as much as they despise capitalism. They see patriots and constitutionalists as their primary enemy. To them, everyone is a NAZI or a fascist unless they are an anarchist. There is no debate allowed on these issues, ever. They operate under various names, but the vast majority identify with the anti-fascist movement. With the election of President Trump, their membership has increased exponentially. There are at least 50,000 nationwide. They have been able to assimilate much of the “occupy” and “black-bloc” movements. Most of what these organizations accomplish are classified as direct actions. They will participate in a protest or a march, but they are not big fans of passive resistance…

The Foundation-Squaring Away Communications Needs in 2017

brushbeater

NCSCOUT over at the Brushbeater blog has amassed some of his older posts into a single, readable post for new and old operators to better access the information.

ncscout's avatarbrushbeater

I’ve received a number of emails over the last several weeks requesting info on various issues, recommended gear, etc…and while I certainly don’t mind answering the plethora of questions (it’s part of the reason I run this blog) much of the info has been previously addressed.  Due to the size and scope of the information contained, I know it can be cumbersome to find answers when you don’t even know what questions to ask, especially if you’re brand new to the signals and communications game.

So in the interest of the greater good, I’m compiling a list of previous posts to get you going. All I ask in return is that you use it, keep an open mind, and at a minimum try some of this stuff at home. Nearly everything I’ve written over the past year-plus in regards to commo covers field implementation and improvisation, sourced…

Tactical Casualty Care for Civilians

From Prepared Gun Owners comes this article, What You Absolutely MUST Know About Tactical First Aid. WARNING there are some photos included from the Boston marathon bombing showing this type of first aid in action which may be disturbing to some viewers.

Do you know what to do to keep yourself from dying if you ever get shot?

Do you know how to keep your loved ones alive if they get shot?

What if you’re in a public place and a terrorist bomb explodes and now there are tons of mass casualties missing limbs and gushing blood?

Unfortunately, a standard Red Cross First Aid or general CPR class will NOT help in situations like this. You need to know tactical first aid that was developed specifically for battlefield injuries.

The World We Now Live In

Despite what anyone in the media says, it’s clear that the FedGov’s war in the Middle East — The Global War on Terror (GWOT) — is also being fought in America.

In short, many public places are now targets of opportunity for guerrilla warfare and you’re now a soldier in an asymmetric battlefield.

Unfortunately, because you’re a civilian and you’re not actively hunting terrorists, you don’t get to choose when the fight happens in this battle.

It will choose you.

It could be a mass shooting the likes of San Bernardino or the Orlando Nightclub or the small unit terrorist attacks in Paris. Or it could be a terrorist bombing, you just don’t know.

Along with training to defend yourself both unarmed and with various forms of tools — to take life if necessary — you should also train yourself to save life if necessary.

Having Life Saving Medical Skills Is Just Simply Good Common Sense!

Even if you’re not ever involved in a terrorist attack …

Or even if you never have to get in a life-or-death fight with anyone …

The truth is that having life-saving medical skills is just good common sense.

How many of us know someone that has had a MAJOR medical accident — like a saw cut off a person’s fingers? Or a chainsaw cut into a person’s leg?

Or how many times have you driven by a gruesome accident on the side of the road?

Having life-saving medical skills in your back pocket just makes too much sense for you to ignore it, especially when:

1. The information is FREE for you to learn how to save lives.

2. The medical gear is cheap and easy to learn how to use.

Introducing Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC)

Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) guidelines were developed by USSOCOM (United States Special Operations Command) to properly train non-medical personnel to deal with the preventable causes of death in the field. Now they’re being used by all of the U.S. military.

We’ll discuss more about TCCC later, but one of the most important things to understand is that the #1 cause of preventable deaths in combat is Hemorrhage from extremity wounds — responsible for 60% of combat deaths.
That means it’s super critical to stop massive bleeding in gun fights, which makes sense right? Bullets punch holes in humans, and humans bleed. Sometimes it’s a lot. Too much blood loss you die.

The good news is …

Because of these protocols, combat survivability is at an all-time high for US Soldiers. In the pic below you can see how the percent of the wounded who die in combat is now at the lowest it has ever been, mainly because of TCCC.
We may not be in combat, but as prepared gun owners, we need to know civilian TCCC.

Introducing: The M.A.R.C.H. Acronym For Civilians

When it comes to TCCC, you can actually get all the guidelines free online from the US Army manuals or other websites which I’ll link to in just a moment.

If you’ve ever had a medical class, you may be familiar with the ABC acronym that stands for “Airway, breathing, circulation”. Well, forget all that.

The new acronym to remember is M.A.R.C.H.

Massive hemorrhage – control life-threatening bleeding.

Airway – establish and maintain a patent airway.

Respiration – decompress suspected tension pneumothorax, seal open chest wounds, and support ventilation/oxygenation as required.

Circulation – establish IV/IO access and administer fluids as required to treat shock.

Head injury/Hypothermia – prevent/treat hypotension and hypoxia to prevent worsening of traumatic brain injury and prevent/treat hypothermia.

Specifically, as a civilian walking around, living your every day life, you may not have the medical tools or resources to take care of every one of these things (for example, the best way to open an airway is to stick this little tube called a Nasopharyngeal Airway (NPA) up a person’s nose. You should know how to do it, but aside from a full-size blow-out kit in your shooting bag, you probably won’t carry one around).

The #1 thing you CAN focus on — and easily carry medical supplies for — is stopping Massive Hemorrhage (aka stopping bleeding)….

‘We’re teaching university students lies’

‘We’re teaching university students lies’ – An interview with Dr Jordan Peterson

An interview discussing free speech, hate speech, compelled speech, political correctness and more from C2C Journal, Canada.

Do you believe that society should draw the line at all when it comes to limitations on hate speech?

No. Hate speech laws are wrong. The question – not a question, but THE question – is ‘who gets to define hate?” That’s not to say there’s no such thing as hate speech – clearly there is. Hate speech laws repress, and I mean that in the psycho-analytical sense. They drive [hate speech] underground. It’s not a good idea, because things get ugly when you drive them underground. They don’t disappear, they just fester, and they’re not subject to correction. I made these videos, and they have been subject to a tremendous amount of correction over the last six weeks. I don’t just mean from my public response, but also partly from the university’s response, partly from a group of friends who have been reviewing my videos and criticizing them to death. This is why free speech is so important. You can struggle to formulate some argument, but when you throw it out into the public, there’s a collective attempt to modify and improve that. So with the hate speech issue – say someone’s a Holocaust denier, because that’s the standard routine – we want those people out there in the public so you can tell them why they’re historically ignorant, and why their views are unfounded and dangerous. If you drive them underground, it’s not like they stop talking to each other, they just don’t talk to anyone who disagrees with them. That’s a really bad idea and that’s what’s happening in the United States right now. Half of the country doesn’t talk to the other half. Do you know what you call people you don’t talk to? Enemies.

If you have enemies, you have war.

If you stop talking to people, you either submit to them, or you go to war with them. Those are your options and those aren’t good options. It’s better to have a talk. If you put restrictions on speech, then you can’t actually talk about the difficult things that need to be talked about. I have about 20,000 hours of clinical practice and all I do for 20 hours a week is talk to people about difficult things – the worst things that are going on in their lives. These are hard conversations all the time. The conversations that are the most curative are simultaneously the ones that are most difficult and most dangerous. Most normal people will not have those conversations. That’s why so many marriages dissolve. People don’t like to have those conversations. Part of that too, is because – let’s say you have a little tiff with your wife, and you know there’s more to it than the little thing that’s bothering her, and you ask ‘what are you REALLY upset about’? Try peeling that back. You might find she’s upset about something her grandfather did to her grandmother two generations ago that hasn’t yet been resolved within the family, and that’s the determining element of her attitude at the present moment. If you unpack it though, then you don’t have to live it over and over again.

There’s also this idea that you shouldn’t say things that hurt people’s feelings – that’s the philosophy of the compassionate left. It’s so childish it’s beyond comprehension. What did Nietzsche say: ‘you can judge a man’s spirit by the amount of truth he can tolerate.’ I tell my students this too, you can tell when you’re being educated because you’re horrified. So if its pleasant and safe, it’s like you’re not learning anything. People learn things the hard way.
