AmRRON: Call For Vigilance as Infrastructure Attacks Increase

From the American Redoubt Radio Operators Network, Call For Vigilance as Trend of Intentional Infrastructure Attacks Increase

In the past week we have seen three significant acts of deliberate sabotage attacks against critical infrastructure.

Some are low tech, such as filling a cell tower cabinet full of firewood, or as sophisticated as detonating a bomb in an attempt to destroy a major AT&T communications hub.  In all cases, disruptions of varying degrees were achieved by the saboteurs.

The Christmas Day bombing in Nashville resulted in multiple AmRRON Operators being cut off from conventional communications in Tennessee.  Due to the HF digital mode AmRRON Persistent Presence Net introduced one year ago, AmRRON radio operators were able to quickly get STATREPs and SITREPs sent out to others in the network.  This allowed other operators to begin assessing the situation and accounting for those in the impacted area.

As we move into 2021, we encourage everyone to participate in as many training and practice nets as possible, and to expand your communications capabilities.   This will make AmRRON more effective in real world emergencies when it comes to staying informed and informing others.

Deliberate Christmas Day Attack On Nashville, TN

Communications Hub Operated by AT&T

From the article at Conservative Firing Line

AT&T was severely impacted by the Nashville explosion, as their building
was a communications hub for several areas. The blast knocked out cell
phone communications (fiber optics) in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Alabama,
as well as police communications, and military bases in the area.

Thousands of Colorado residents without heat

after attack on gas service

https://abcnews.go.com/US/thousands-colorado-residents-heat-attack-gas-service/story?id=74948009

The FBI has joined a criminal investigation of what police said appears
to be an “intentional attack” on gas service lines in Aspen, Colorado,
that left thousands of residents and businesses without heat as temperatures
in the skiing mecca plunged to near zero degrees.Aspen police said the
apparently coordinated acts of vandalism occurred Saturday night at three
separate Black Hills Energy gas line sites, one in Aspen and two elsewhere
in Pitkin County.

Intelligence Analyst comments, from Forward Observer:

(AC: Law enforcement suspects that EarthFirst!, an ecological activist
group, was involved. From the descriptions of law enforcement, it
appears that the acts of vandalism were conducted by individuals familiar
with area gas lines, which denotes pre-operational reconnaissance or
surveillance of the target. None of the pipeline switches had security
cameras, leaving police with few leads so far. Eco-activist/terrorist
groups have a long history of disruption and very good operations security.
Much of the OPSEC best practices promoted by antifascist groups today
originated from 1990s and early 2000s eco-terrorist groups, which really
have mastered the art of OPSEC. Although there was some speculation in eco-
fascist channels that this was an act of Accelerationism, I remain doubtful.
After the Christmas Day bombing in Nashville, I would suspect that
Accelerationists desire more damage and infamy than temporary disruption of
natural gas lines. – S.C.)

Breaking Defense: US Loses Badly in Wargames with Russia/China

In the article US ‘Gets Its Ass Handed To It’ In Wargames: Here’s A $24 Billion Fix, Breaking Defense reports that the US’s advanced military technology have some major Achilles’ heels which Russia and China have, intelligently, designed their military responses to take advantage. Many people in the US wrongly assume that American military technology is so far advanced that there is no comparison with Russian and Chinese forces. Unfortunately, that view overlooks the fact that smart opponents will devise tactics and techniques which target the weaknesses of an opponent. The US is extremely good at projecting offensive power, but after decades at the forefront of military technology the US has lost sight of the importance of defending anything from strikes. It’s like America has spent twenty years perfecting the jab and right cross, but is incapable of dodging or blocking a punch. In effect, Russia and China do not need to have more advanced weapons than the US (though they may have an advantage in missile technology) because the US cannot protect their weapons from being destroyed before they can be used.

The US keeps losing, hard, in simulated wars with Russia and China. Bases burn. Warships sink…

“In our games, when we fight Russia and China,” RAND analyst David Ochmanek said this afternoon, “blue gets its ass handed to it.” In other words, in RAND’s wargames, which are often sponsored by the Pentagon, the US forces — colored blue on wargame maps — suffer heavy losses in one scenario after another and still can’t stop Russia or China — red — from achieving their objectives, like overrunning US allies.

No, it’s not a Red Dawn nightmare scenario where the Commies conquer Colorado. But losing the Baltics or Taiwan would shatter American alliances, shock the global economy, and topple the world order the US has led since World War II…

F-35 stealth fighters are hard to kill in flight, but lined up on the runway, they’re easy targets.

big airbases on land and big aircraft carriers on the water turn out to be big targets for long-range precision-guided missiles. Once an American monopoly, such smart weapons are now a rapidly growing part of Russian and Chinese arsenals — as are the long-range sensors, communications networks, and command systems required to aim them.

So, as potential adversaries improve their technology, “things that rely on sophisticated base infrastructure like runways and fuel tanks are going to have a hard time,” Ochmanek said. “Things that sail on the surface of the sea are going to have a hard time.”

…Worst of all, Work and Ochmanek said, the US doesn’t just take body blows, it takes a hard hit to the head as well. Its communications satellites, wireless networks, and other command-and-control systems suffer such heavy hacking and jamming that they are, in Ochmanek’s words, “suppressed, if not shattered…”

AmPart: Wargaming Dangers to Your Area

NC Scout is full of useful information, and luckily he is willing to share that information with us all. In his post Situational Awareness and Wargaming Your AO, NC Scout gives us a short explanation about how to about thinking over how critical infrastructure in your area could be attacked. He’s particular interested in communication infrastructure, but the same targeting process can be used toward anything.

The most important questions you should be asking right now are not the hypothetical or abstract simply naming ‘SHTF!’, rather, it needs to be rationally rooted in the MOST LIKELY and MOST DEADLY courses of action (MLCOA / MDCOA). What causes this “SHTF?” Who will be taking advantage of it? One of the overtones of my recent classes has been discussing the growing local antifa movement and (somewhat) wargaming/red celling capabilities, with emergency services communications systems coming into question. Think on that one for a second. It’s a dangerous proposition that many overlook- there’s a real threat to the robustness of emergency service equipment and as we become more and more complex, they become more and more vulnerable. From my perspective, this makes understanding and maintaining my own off-grid communications and action networks that much more important. And it should you too…

This is not some overseas and out of mind terror group. This is Antifa in the US. And they’ve built a cadre of combat vets from their time fighting in Rojava. What have you been doing?

.Building independent, self-sustaining communities is paramount, as well as being the strongest survivalist plan, but its important to recognize that threats are more than just simplistic catch phrases. You still live in the real world, not that lustful libertariatopia, and are subject to the ramifications of threats external to you. I take people at their word- and the Left’s core, the ‘instant gratification‘ groomed social justice warriors, a manifestation of all of the fingers that threaten Western Sovereignty- are the future of their movement. They see no benefit to the current order and through willful ignorance find solace amid revolutionary ideals whose only logical end is violence. I believe them. And instead of useless projecting, you should be asking serious questions about what they’re capable of pulling off. I bet some folks in Nigeria today wished they had done a bit more in retrospect. I’d be willing to bet some of you will too- Antifa thugs, Islamic thugs, same types of people. They both want you, Christian Male, exterminated.

What to do now is get serious about a training schedule while spending some time understanding more about your individual area. There’s a lot of opportunities out there, and the more arrows you put in the quiver the more resilient you’ll be later on down the road.
