The Wenatchee hamfest is once again upon us to be held in Dryden, WA on June 10, 11, and 12th, 2017 at the Dryden Gun Club. Come camp out for the weekend, stay just up the road (walking distance for most) in a nice motel, or just make a day trip of it and enjoy the day.

The great W7TD cooks will be at it again for breakfast Saturday morning, and a potluck dinner is held Saturday afternoon.

If you have items to sell, all you have to do is register for the hamfest, and you can sell out of the back of your truck, seat of your car, or set up a table.

Pastor Shahram Hadian, who is a former Muslim from Iran, will lay out a Biblical response on exposing Islam while encouraging believers to seek a Christ-like heart for Muslim people who are lost without the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Benton Franklin Local Emergency Management Association (LEMA) is hosting an open Self-Reliance meeting, Thursday, June 30, 2016, 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, at the Island View Worship Center in Richland.

The master of ceremonies for this event is Clint Didier and the main instructor for this night will be Kathy James of Richland (who was a presenter at the NW Preparedness Expo this year); nobody is better qualified than Kathy when it comes to Self-Reliance instruction!

• Clint Didier will explain the purpose and goals of the Benton Franklin Local Emergency Management Association (LEMA).

Radio Amateurs Asked to Keep 7.060 MHz Clear for Ecuador
Earthquake Emergency Traffic

In the wake of the April 16 earthquake in Ecuador, the Amateur Radio
community is being asked to keep 7.060 MHz clear for “Cadena HC”
emergency traffic. DXpeditions operating RTTY on 40 meters are
requested to keep pileups below 7.060 MHz. The 7.8 magnitude earthquake
has resulted in dozens of deaths and many more injuries.

Most earthquake damage has occurred in the Guayaquil (HC2) and
Portoviejo/Manta (HC4) areas of Ecuador. Well-known DXer Lilian de
Ayala, HC4L, in Portoviejo – the capital of Manabi province – is safe,
but some structures in Portoviejo and Manta suffered severe damage,
with many victims reported to have been buried in the rubble of
collapsed buildings and homes. Electrical power and commercial
telecommunication systems have been either destroyed or knocked out in
the affected area, and hams in the HC4 district have been operating by
using mobile stations or battery power. Many roads have been rendered
impassable because of earthquake rubble.

The Cadena HC emergency frequency is now active and running 24 hours
per day on 7.060 LSB. Hams in Ecuador have been reported very busy
coordinating search-and-rescue activities.
